Magnesium sulfate is a colorless and odorless granular crystal. It is highly soluble in inorganic solvents, especially in organic solvents such as glycerin and alcohol. It has the characteristics of moisture absorption, sound absorption, and heat absorption. Its main role in the production of building materials is to produce lightweight, sound-proof, sound-absorbing, waterproof, fire-proof and other materials, as well as heat-absorbing and cold-storage materials.
1. Magnesium sulfate can be used as a flame retardant layer for lightweight composite panels. For example, perlite, binder and foam are used as the core material. After the surface is sprayed with a mixture of magnesium sulfate, pulp and glass fiber for 1mm, the specific gravity of the composite board obtained is 0.37, which is the first level. It has the advantages of lightweight, non-combustible, fire-resistant, sound-proof, high strength, and convenient construction.
2. Magnesium sulfate can make honeycomb paper, lightweight structural materials and burn-free insulation panels.
3. Magnesium sulfate is used as a flame retardant for materials such as acrylate resin, epoxy resin, unsaturated polyester and polyurethane to enhance the heat resistance of fireproof materials.
4. In the drying and sintering process of magnesium-oxygen refractory materials, magnesium sulfate is used to stabilize the body.
5. After magnesium sulfate is dissolved in water, it reacts with heavy and light burning powder (magnesium oxide) to form magnesium sulphide cement. This cement has good thermal insulation, fire resistance, durability and environmental protection. It is used in the production of fireproof panels, exterior wall insulation panels, door core panels, etc.
6. In the construction industry, magnesium sulfate is used as a coagulant for cement to produce antifreeze and waterproof reinforced cement.
7. Magnesium sulfate is used as a waste heat and cold storage material for absorbing solar energy, industrial waste heat, and excess electricity at night, and plays a role in energy saving and environmental protection.
